Little Miss & Mister Contest
Little Miss & Mister Pageant Brings Its Own Sunshine To The Newton County Fair
What better way to begin the fair than with a group of smiling young faces! Nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of the contestants in this competition! The young ladies and gentlemen conduct themselves royally. They are escorted to the emcee and then asked a probing question concerning their philosophies of life such as "Do you have a pet?" while the judges note their criteria for selection of the new regal pair. Last year's Little Miss winner, Alexis Standish and the Little Mister winner, Logan Fausset, fulfilled the duties of their titles well, assisting Miss Newton County Fair and her court at various events throughout the week.
The Little Miss and Mister contest allows children between 5 and 8 to compete for the title of Little Miss or Little Mister Newton County. The children are judged on their personality, spontaneity, interaction with the judges and host, and appearance. This is an excellent way to introduce the stage and public speaking to young children. It is a great way to bring younger children into the activities at the fair.
Little Miss and Mister are asked to attend the Miss Newton County pageant to hand our flowers to the contestants, 4-H judging events during the fair to hand out ribbons, and various other events during the fair. Little Miss and Mister are required to have a parent or guardian with them at all times during their fair appearances. There is a mandatory meeting that both the child and one parent need to attend on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 6:30 pm at the Connell Building at the Newton County Fairgrounds.
Anyone interested in entering may contact Denise Shedrow at 219/474-5382 (or via e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ). This is one of the most popular events of the fair. Make sure you're there Monday, July 11th at 6:30 pm. You'll be as proud of these young people as their parents are!
Applications are available right here or available via mail by calling 219/474-5382.
